We can arrange fertility tests for you if you are having a problem conceiving a baby.

Perinatal Mental Health Service

According to the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), an estimated 1 in 5 women are affected by mental illness during pregnancy and the perinatal period.

The Wandsworth Perinatal Psychotherapy Service focuses on the care of women with a range of mental health disorders during the perinatal period (pregnancy to 12 months following childbirth).  Although highly steeped in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, this small team has evolved flexibly particularly since 2009, with the advent of the Wandsworth perinatal psychotherapy outreach model.  This was an initiative that led to satellite clinics being set up within Children’s Centres and GP practices including Chatfield Health Centre.

Attending a local GP surgery for many pregnant women and mums with babies is a much more practical and convenient option than attending a hospital.

With a collaborative philosophy being central in the working arrangements between the psychotherapy team and GP surgeries, we are able to provide psychotherapy to perinatal patients in the local community.  The psychotherapy team focuses on integrating the mental health needs of the mother/parent and baby, whilst recognising that there is often complex mental health problems embedded in the parent’s present and past.

This team of experienced psychotherapists include Dr Danny O’Shea, Karina Sarmiento and Melanie Royal-Lawson.

During the current coronavirus outbreak in-practice clinics have been temporarily suspended, and services may be delivered by telephone or video.
